In a new day as the Sun pierces through the windows of a heartland’s facade, a Grandma takes the opportunity to sun-bathe her handcrafted patchwork blanket (百家被).
Made of patches of used clothes of kids from neighbouring families of different ethnicities in her HDB block (housing apartments in Singapore), it is believed that such blankets can transfer positive energy and vitality to its toddler owner. But due to child-like use, wear and tear are common.
So as the well-used blanket is left to bask in the Sun unattended, forces beyond the Grandma’s control appears to expose the fabric at its weakest seams, threatening its destruction. What can the Grandma do?
